Underarm waxing in Glendale

Fifteen minutes that end the daily razor routine. Underarm hair grows in every direction at once, which is exactly what film wax is for: it wraps each hair and lifts them all in one piece.

Body waxing

Why waxing beats shaving your underarms

Shaving the underarms every day or two keeps the skin in a permanent state of mild irritation: the darkened shadow, the bumps, the stubble by evening. Waxing removes the hair at the root, so the skin gets three to four weeks to simply be skin. Many guests notice the area looks more even-toned after a few months of waxing, because the daily razor friction has stopped.

The underarm is thin-skinned, sweaty and sensitive, which is why we use film wax only. ITALWAX sets at a low working temperature and sticks to hair rather than skin, so we can treat the area in two or three small sections per side and go back over a stubborn spot without damage.

This is also the area where "it gets easier every time" is most obvious. The first visit is a sharp few seconds; by the third, most guests barely react.

What's included

  • The entire hollow of both underarms
  • Tweezing of any strays
  • Growth in every direction, mapped and lifted section by section

What to expect during your appointment

Position and cleanse

You lie back with one arm raised and your hand behind your head. We cleanse away deodorant and sweat, then apply pre-wax oil.

Map and wax

Underarm hair fans out in several directions. We apply film wax in two or three small sections per side, each laid with its growth and lifted against it while the skin is held taut.

Tweeze and soothe

Strays are tweezed, after-wax lotion calms the skin, and we repeat on the other side.

Comfort level: Rated 3 out of 5 on a first visit: sharp but over in seconds. It drops noticeably with each regular appointment.

Please reschedule if

  • You have sunburn, open cuts, a rash or broken skin on the area.
  • You have taken isotretinoin (Accutane) within the last six months.
  • You have used a prescription retinoid or strong acid on the area in the last week.
  • You have had laser, a chemical peel, microdermabrasion or dermaplaning on the area within two weeks.
  • You have an active rash or irritation from deodorant, or swollen lymph nodes in the area.

Aftercare for the first 48 hours and beyond

For 24 hours, ideally 48, no deodorant or antiperspirant at all. The follicles are open and alcohol and aluminum salts sting and can trigger folliculitis. When you do go back, use a gentle, alcohol-free, fragrance-free formula for a few days.

For 24 to 48 hours, skip heavy workouts, hot showers, saunas and tight tops. A cool compress and loose cotton are all the area needs. Small bumps and pinkness settle within hours.

From day three, exfoliate gently two to three times a week and moisturize. If you are prone to ingrowns, an ingrown serum a few times a week keeps the area clear. Do not shave between visits; it resets the growth cycle and makes the next wax patchy.

Why waxing, and why here

No shadow, no bumps

Removing hair at the root ends the daily razor irritation that darkens and roughens underarm skin.

Film wax, not strips

ITALWAX film wax sets into a flexible film that grips every hair and lifts in one piece, leaving the skin alone. Applied warm, never hot.

The fastest payoff

Fifteen minutes every three to four weeks instead of a razor every other day.

Myths, retired

Waxing causes swollen lymph nodes.Waxing does not affect lymph nodes. Small tender bumps after a wax are hair follicles settling.
A quick shave between appointments is fine.It resets the growth cycle and makes the next wax uneven. Let it grow.
Hair grows back thicker after waxing. It does not. Hair type is set by the follicle. Regrowth after waxing is often finer and sparser because the hair is removed at the root and the growth cycle is reset.

Underarms questions

Why can’t I wear deodorant afterward?

Freshly waxed follicles are open. Alcohol and aluminum salts sting and can cause folliculitis. Wait 24 to 48 hours, then use a gentle, fragrance-free formula for a few days.

Will waxing lighten my dark underarms?

It is not a lightening treatment, but ending daily razor irritation often improves pigmentation over time.

Will I sweat more after waxing?

No. Sweat glands are unaffected. Some guests find odor changes because hair no longer holds it.

Can I be waxed if I have a few ingrowns?

Yes, as long as they are not inflamed or open. We work around any that are.

How long before I can work out?

24 to 48 hours. Sweat and friction on open follicles is what causes bumps.

Is underarm waxing safe during pregnancy?

Generally yes. Skin is a little more sensitive, so let us know.

Why ITALWAX for underarms?

Film wax grips every direction of growth in one lift and sets at a low temperature on this thin skin. Strip wax here is the reason people think underarm waxing has to hurt.
