The upper lip is one of the most sensitive areas we wax and one of the most rewarding. Shaving leaves blunt tips that feel coarse by the next day. Threading is precise but slow and misses the fine hair. Film wax takes everything from the root in two or three small sections, and the result lasts three to four weeks.
We apply ITALWAX in a thin layer with the lip tightened over the teeth, let it set for a few seconds, and lift. The low working temperature matters here more than anywhere: hot wax on a lip is what gives waxing a bad name.

What to expect during your appointment
Cleanse
Lipstick and any makeup are removed and the skin is cleansed with pre-wax lotion, then protected with a light oil or powder.
Three small sections
Wax goes on one side, then the other, then the center, while you tighten your lip over your teeth. Each section sets for a few seconds and lifts in one quick motion.
Tweeze and soothe
Any single strays are tweezed, then after-wax lotion calms the skin. You can eat and drink straight away; just skip very hot drinks for an hour.
Comfort level: Rated 2 to 3 out of 5. The lip is densely supplied with nerves, so the sting is sharp but over in a second per section.
How to prepare

- You have sunburn, open cuts, a rash or broken skin on the area.
- You have taken isotretinoin (Accutane) within the last six months.
- You have used a prescription retinoid or strong acid on the area in the last week.
- You have had laser, a chemical peel, microdermabrasion or dermaplaning on the area within two weeks.
- You have an active cold sore anywhere on the lip.
Aftercare for the first 48 hours and beyond
For 24 hours, keep the area bare: no makeup, serums, acids or fragranced products. A bland moisturizer is fine. Light pinkness for thirty to ninety minutes is normal. A cool compress helps if you want it.
For 48 hours, avoid sun, heat, saunas and sweaty workouts. From the day after, wear a mineral SPF daily. Freshly waxed facial skin pigments easily, especially in olive and deeper skin tones, and sunscreen is what prevents it.
Resume gentle exfoliation after 72 hours and keep it up twice a week between visits. Facial hair ingrows easily on the chin and jaw, and exfoliation is the fix. Do not pluck between appointments; it leaves nothing for the wax to grip next time.

Upper lip questions
Will upper lip waxing make the hair grow back thicker or darker?
No. It can look slightly coarser at first because the regrowing tip is blunt, but the hair itself is unchanged and usually gets finer with regular waxing.
Can I get my lip waxed during my period?
Yes. Sensitivity is a little higher that week, so if you are nervous, book mid-cycle.
Why do I get small bumps afterward?
Temporary folliculitis: the follicles are open and briefly irritated. Keep the area clean and product-free for 24 hours and they settle.
Can I combine lip with brows or chin?

How soon can I eat and drink?
Immediately. Avoid very hot drinks pressed to the lip for about an hour.
I am on antibiotics. Is that a problem?
Tell us. Some, including doxycycline, make skin more reactive and photosensitive, and we may suggest waiting until the course is finished.
Does ITALWAX really reduce redness?
Film wax that grips hair rather than skin and sets at a low temperature is measurably gentler than strip wax. Most guests see pinkness fade within the hour.
